It is amazing that our beautiful little baby is already a month old! It has went by entirely too fast! Other than the sleepless nights, I am LOVING being a mommy and enjoying the newborn stage. It is so fun to see her growing and learning new things, but part of me just wants her too stay little forever! She has already changed so much just in the first month. We are trying to cherish every moment with our precious girl!
We've had some struggles during this first month, but overall...things have been great! We are finally getting all settled in and trying to get into somewhat of a routine. During our first week home, we had lots of difficulties with breastfeeding. My milk took a little longer than normal to come in and Callie lost more than 10% of her birth weight. The doctor told me I had to supplement with formula which was hard for me. I was so afraid that she would get confused and not want to nurse anymore. I almost gave up on the idea of breastfeeding, but thankfully I had lots of support/encouragement from great friends/family and I stuck it out! Now, believe it or not, she nurses like a champ and I can't get her to take a bottle!!! She outright refuses by screaming, spitting, sputtering, and gaging! I have tried about 5 different bottles, but she doesn't like any of them. The doctor told me just to keep trying and she will eventually take one. We are practicing once a day, so hopefully she will get it figured out. Other than that...our other issues have included reflux and gas! Poor little princess...as soon as you get her to sleep...one of the other ends up hurting her and she wakes up crying! It has been rough, but it has also given us some extra time to snuggle her which has been nice! We also bought a crib wedge and that seems to have helped some.
This is what Miss Callie is up to at one month:
- Eating about every 3 hours through the day and then cluster feeding about every 2 hours in the evening. Usually I get about a four hour stretch in the middle of the night! YAY!
- Smiling
- Making the cutest baby noises ever!
- LOVES her swing, mobile, play gym, and for some reason this random shelf we have on the wall! She knows it is there and will turn her head upside down to see it if she has too...she just smiles at it! It is too funny!
- Likes tummy time and does an amazing job of holding her head up
- Usually hates being naked and screams her head off
- And now...drumroll please!!! Her 1 month stats: 10 pounds, 21 1/2 inches. She has gained about 1 pound and 1 inch in the past month. She is in the 80th percentile for her weight and head measurement and in the 75th percentile for her length

You are doing so awesome...she is beautiful. I love how alert she is in the pictures...still has those gorgeous lips! Can't wait to visit soon!! Love, Bri
